Synthetic chemicals are in use as pesticides for many years to increase the yield of crops. However, this approach has its limitations due to its negative impacts on human health and the environment. Fungi based products are considered an alternative to synthetic chemical pesticides. Several fungi are among the most studied and applied bio-control agents in industry and agriculture. They are known to secrete several secondary metabolites with different biological activities. Fungal secondary metabolites are low molecular weight bioactive compounds with a variety of functions. Hence, studies on the fungal secondary metabolites have an important role in improving the quality of the crops by minimizing qualitative and quantitative damage caused by several biotic stresses. Concisely, the integration of secondary metabolites in pest management strategy is an eco-friendly, cost-effective, sustainable and farmer-friendly solution to manage pests and fits well in integrated modules.
